Dinusha Joseph - 'Places I Have Never Been'

Wednesday 17 - Sunday 28 May 2017

The exhibition explores the connection between the visible and the invisible worlds we inhabit. The atmospheres created by the paintings are drawn from inspiration in nature as well as from imaginary wanderings.

Dinusha Joseph is interested in the relationship between observed phenomena in the natural world and expression in abstract form. Her paintings are inspired by organic shapes, including skies, seas, horizons and flora. It is part of her practice to take photographs, which may influence the work indirectly through her visual memory. She is also interested in the process of mark making and layering as a means of continuously reacting to the ground of the existing canvas. Each work is in this way a journey, which is not pre-planned.
